Description |
The Atmosphere SIPS has recently upgraded the Continuity Cloud Mask algorithm in response to a bug-fix, which relates to the following three v1.0 Continuity Cloud Mask collections: CLDMSK_L2_NOAA20_VIIRS, CLDMSK_L2_SNPP_VIIRS, and CLDMSK_L2_MODIS_Aqua. It uses the latest version of Level-1B (L1B) VIIRS data inputs along with new sea-surface temperature files from the Optimum Interpolation Sea Surface Temperature (OISST) source that replaces the Reynolds Sea Surface Temperature (REYNSST) weekly data files. The new L1B inputs cause only minimal differences in the Clear-Sky Confidence with 99.9% of the differences between the two outputs within 0.02 for SNPP and 0.08 for NOAA-20. The reprocessed, updated collections start from Jan 1, 2023 for the three Continuity Cloud Mask (CLDMSK_L2_NOAA20_VIIRS, CLDMSK_L2_SNPP_VIIRS, and CLDMSK_L2_MODIS_Aqua) and three Continuity Cloud Properties (CLDPROP_L2_NOAA20_VIIRS, CLDPROP_L2_SNPP_VIIRS, and CLDPROP_L2_MODIS_Aqua) products including their aggregated daily and monthly versions. While the v1.0 version collection number is maintained, the "product_version" value in the global metadata attributes is incremented to "1.0.5." |
