Description

Recent maneuvers by NASA in February 2020 and March 2021 signal the eventual retirement of the agency's Terra and Aqua satellites, paving the way for the VIIRS instruments of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) to take the lead in providing critical Earth system observations. A recent article from Earthdata examines transitioning from MODIS data from Aqua and Terra to using VIIRS data that is and will be supplied by JPSS.

The Earthdata article is available here.
