Description

Updated 2021-09-30 -- The new SNPP CrIS L1B software was delivered, and the forward-stream production of affected products has resumed. ASIPS also plans to process and provide all prior observations collected after the reconfiguration. Due to the absence of the Mid Wavelength Infrared bands on the SNPP CrIS sensor, the VIIRS/CrIS Fusion spectral band scaled radiances matching the MODIS water vapor bands 27 (6.7 microns) and 28 (7.3 microns) (Scientific Data Sets (SDS) named MODIS27 and MODIS28 respectively) will consist of Fill data only.

Updated 2021-07-15 -- The CrIS L1B team is planning to provide a new version of the L1B software at the end of August, to process affected products so production will not resume until end of August or early September.

On July 12, 2021, the Cross-Track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) sensor on the Suomi NPP platform is scheduled to go through a reconfiguration to mitigate the effects of some sensor system anomalies. As a result, the production of the VIIRS-CrIS Fusion Radiance product, produced by the Atmosphere SIPS and distributed by the LAADS DAAC will undergo a delay until a new L1B software is made available by the CrIS L1B software team. Once updated L1B software is released, which may take up to a month, the forward-stream production of affected products will resume, and all prior observations collected after the reconfiguration will additionally be processed and made available. We will update this announcement once the production resumes and the data products are available again.
