On 2020.008 (January 8th, 2020) a flight software update was conducted for the VIIRS instrument on the SNPP Spacecraft, which has resulted in increased striping for the Suomi NPP VIIRS DNB night time data, at high scan angles (beginning and end of the swath) since January 8, 2020 onwards. This anomaly impacts S-NPP VIIRS DNB data from January 8th, 2020 to the leading edge of production. This issue is currently under investigation and the VIIRS SDR team is working with the JPSS flight team to resolve this issue. This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
