Description 2017-08-02T12:50:50ZZ
A non-routine deep space calibration maneuver of Terra MODIS is planned on August 5, 2017 (Julian Day 217) starting at 23:15:46 GMT and ending at 23:51:40 GMT. An hour's worth of data loss immediately following the maneuver is expected from being disconnected from the solid-state recorder (SSR). In addition, we may experience negative impacts on data quality resulting from loss of pointing accuracy, and changes in the operational temperature of the Cold Focal Plane Assembly (CFPA) hosting the thermal bands. The CFPA temperatures require approximately 18 hours, following the maneuver, to return to nominal conditions. These circumstances warrant the suspension of the Terra MODIS Near-Real-Time (NRT) products starting from August 5, 2017, 23:15:46 GMT through at least August 6, 2017, 18:00:00 GMT. We will inform users of any further delay in resuming the NRT processing in the event of unforeseen problems with the recovery of the satellite/instrument following the maneuver. Please monitor these alerts for further updates.
