Updated 2024-11-08T15:15:00Z -- The S-NPP's onboard geolocation system was reset on Wed. Nov. 6 around 17:17 UTC. The Calibration/Validation teams have finished verifying S-NPP's data products and found them to be suitable for operations. Given this, MODAPS LANCE has decided to resume S-NPP NRT processing, starting November 9 (Day 314) and the STD processing was also resumed on November 9. ----------------- Similar to the May 25 and the July 09, 2024 events, another anomaly with the Suomi-NPP GPS, which started on November 2, 2024, at 0231Z, is causing degradation in SNPP VIIRS data's geolocation performance. Given this degradation, all production of SNPP VIIRS land data products from MODAPS LANCE and LandSIPS are being suspended until further notice. Users are advised not to use any SNPP VIIRS data products that have been produced and are being distributed since 2215Z on November 2, 2024, until further notice. A possible mitigation effort will start, Monday November 7, 2024, following which all performance will be evaluated by the instrument Cal/Val teams, before any resumption of SNPP NRT and STD processing at the leading edge. Further updates will be provided once all processing has been resumed for SNPP from MODAPS LANCE and LandSIPS. |
