Description |
Update:2023-09-11 8:35 pam EDT -- Between August 29 and 31, 2023, a recovery process of switching Side-1 electronics to Side-2 electronics was performed to recover the S-NPP CrIS Mid-Wavelength IR band information. Due to this recovery action, the SNPP VIIRS+CrIS Fusion (v2.0) product MODIS-equivalent fusion radiance datasets matching the MODIS Bands 27 and 28 (with Scientific Data Sets (SDS) named MODIS27-MODIS28) have nominal values again since August 31, 2023 at 16:12 UTC and declared operationally usable since September 8, 2023 at 15:30 UTC. Users should cautiously handle the S-NPP fusion products between August 31 and September 8, 2023. The Fusion Science Team monitors the situation and will provide further information if any changes to the SNPP VIIRS+CrIS Fusion products exist. As a reminder, the SNPP VIIRS+CrIS MODIS Band 30-36 equivalent radiances (with SDSs named MODIS30-MODIS36, respectively) and the "differences of measured minus fusion-reconstructed" VIIRS M15 and M16 brightness temperature dataset (with SDS names BTD_15 and BTD_16) will no longer be available and consist of Fill data only. ------------- Posted 2023-08-23 06:30 am EDT -- Due to the S-NPP CrIS (Cross Track Infrared Sounder) Long Wave Signal Processor Failure, from August 13, 2023, at approximately 21:32 UTC, until further notice, the Fusion LWIR scaled radiances matching the MODIS Bands 30-36 (Scientific Data Sets (SDS) named MODIS30-MODIS36 respectively) will consist of Fill data only. Please note that from the above date, until further notice, only MODIS-equivalent fusion radiance datasets MODIS23-MODIS25, and the "differences of measured minus fusion-reconstructed" VIIRS M15 and M16 brightness temperature datasets (with SDS names BTD_15 and BTD_16) have nominal values. The Fusion science team is monitoring the status of the CrIS instrument on SNPP, and will provide further information if there are any changes to the Fusion product. |
