Description |
Please note that the C2 SNPP and C2.1 J1 Level-1 (L1) datasets from AS 5200 and 5201, respectively, will be reprocessed for certain days that are impacted by solar or lunar eclipse (ref: https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/). This will be done to populate the Solar and Lunar eclipse, as well as the SAA (South Atlantic Anomaly) flag values that are part of the V[NP|J1]03[MOD|IMG|DNB] "Geolocation scan quality flags" scan line attributes. These flags are currently not being populated. Note that for most of the SNPP and J1 mission period, "SAA" flag value will only be populated for selected days that were reprocessed, having either a solar or a lunar eclipse. Also note that this SAA flag is based on a static SAA footprint. Furthermore, the lunar eclipse flag values will be populated only for the V[NP|J1]03DNB products. For more details on this and the exact flag values, the users are requested to refer to the NASA V3 L1 products Users Guide. This reprocessing should have no impact on the actual geolocation or the L1B science data quality. Similar changes will also be implemented for the SNPP C2 and J1 C2.1 forward processing, starting 1/19/2022 and the SAA flag should always be populated for data in the forward processing |
