Updated 2024-10-03T18:15:00Z -- The SNPP VIIRS STD processing has resumed, after hiding the data for the following period, due to degraded geolocation performance: 9/26/2024 00:00z to 9/27/2024 17:30z (included). ----------------- Updated 2024-09-30T19:20:00Z -- The SNPP GPS anomaly was resolved on Friday, September 27, and geolocation accuracy has been restored. MODAPS LANCE has resumed SNPP NRT production, starting today, September 30. The STD processing will resume soon, pending some final confirmation by the VIIRS instrument Cal/Val team. ----------------- An anomaly with the Suomi-NPP GPS, which started at around 22:44:05 UTC on September 24, 2024, is causing degradation in SNPP VIIRS data's geolocation performance. Given this degradation, all production of SNPP VIIRS land data products from MODAPS LANCE and LandSIPS are being suspended until further notice. Users are advised not to use any SNPP VIIRS data products that have been produced and are being distributed since 22:42, September 24, 2024, until further notice. A possible mitigation effort will be attempted on Friday, September 27, following which all performance will be evaluated by the instrument Cal/Val teams, before any resumption of SNPP NRT and STD processing at the leading edge. Further updates will be provided once all processing have been resumed for SNPP from MODAPS LANCE and LandSIPS. |
